Generator marketing agency reports: what to ask for

Ask for a report that links spend to real sales steps. Use its gaps to choose one useful action.

A useful generator marketing agency report shows costs, real sales steps and the next gap to fix. Ask for the period, count rules and source of each total.

The report should help you decide what to do. Green arrows and a pile of leads do not show that jobs were finished or paid.

Put the period and scope first

Ask which dates the report covers. Does it show new leads from those dates, or all sales that happened then? Both can be useful, but they are not the same view.

Name the channels, job types and service area. Keep hiring, old-customer service calls and spam outside new-install results. Show where excluded records went.

Ask for a trail through the work

Keep ad spend, fees and tools in separate lines. Then show new leads, reached leads, held visits, accepted quotes and finished jobs.

Put money received and refunds beside the right jobs. Show open balances and missing costs. A report should not call an accepted quote a paid install.

Ask where each number came from. A stable lead or job ID can link the report to a real record. A platform total on its own may not show the final outcome.

    Make the gaps useful

No report sees everything. Ask the team to list unknown sources, missing visit outcomes and jobs with no payment match.

Give each gap a next action. For example, the office can confirm whether three visits took place. The sales lead can check four open quotes. These are tasks, not new sales.

Trace one example before trusting the total

Ask the owner to walk through one included job in the approved records. Can they show the first request, held visit, agreed quote and checked payment? Missing steps should stay missing.

Then ask how the same rule was used for the rest of the group. One clean row checks the method; it does not prove every row is right.

Judge the decision, not the design

Ask why the proposed action comes first. Does it fix the largest sales gap the records show? Can your team do its part this week?

If the agency recommends more spend, ask about crew and office space too. A bigger lead pile can be a poor next move when calls already go unanswered.

Save the decision with the report. At the next review, check whether the task was done and what you learned. That makes reporting part of the work.

    Watch and learn

Ask for counts that lead to a useful decision

Watch the scorecard questions for leads, visits, sold jobs and paid work. Keep missing facts and wrong-area requests visible.
