    Gengatorz Power Systems lesson

What does a real generator lead cost? A Gengatorz lesson

Use the same costs and lead rules before you compare campaigns. A practical lesson from Travis at Gengatorz.

A useful generator lead cost names both sides of the sum: the costs included and the people counted. Ad spend per form and all-in cost per person reached are different measures.

Travis at Gengatorz explains that gap in his past interview. Use his lesson to check the labels on your own report.

    What the client described

In his historical interview, Travis describes an all-in lead cost. It includes ad spend, agency fees and some staff costs. He counts people who gave real details and replied. That is a different measure from ad spend per form fill.

His account is a client report. It does not set a fair price for every dealer. It also does not prove cash collected or profit.

Name the number before you use it

Start with one month of new leads. Keep the date each first came in. Remove duplicate records from the count, but keep the source notes.

Use clear labels. A form fill is a request. A reached lead is someone your team spoke with or heard back from. A sale is a later step.

    • New requests received.
    • Real people reached.
    • Home visits held.
    • Jobs sold, then jobs finished.

Match the cost to the count

List the ad spend for that group. Add the agreed fees and staff work if you want an all-in cost. Show those lines apart. This lets someone else check the total.

Do not compare one report with fees to another without fees. Do not divide this month’s costs by last year’s sales. If a cost cannot be tied to the group, label the gap.

    Try this report check

Ask which step needs work before you buy more leads. Low contact may call for better replies. Few held visits may call for clearer project fit. A low form price alone will not tell you.

    1. Write the month and lead source at the top.
    2. Write the rule for a real, reached lead.
    3. Show form fills and reached leads in separate rows.
    4. List which costs are in the total.
    5. Keep open quotes apart from sold jobs.
    6. Check the same group again as jobs finish.

    Work one small example

Keep the raw form count beside the reached count. Never replace one with the other just because it makes a lower cost. Show what you paid and which month the leads came from.

If no one has been reached, cost per reached lead is not zero. Mark it as not yet known. Check the source and follow-up before judging the offer.
