Google or Meta ads for generator leads: compare the sales path

Give each ad channel a clear role. Compare real project fit and sales work before choosing where to spend.

Choose Google or Meta ads for generator leads by the buyer task, your message and your team’s ability to work the lead. Do not pick a winner from cheap forms alone.

Search ads can answer an active search. Feed ads can explain your work to a new viewer. Neither setting proves that a person will buy.

    On this page

    Meet an active search

Google’s Search Network can show ads when people search. A local install search gives you a question to answer. Your ad and page should match that question.

Keep the area and job type clear. Someone who wants a portable unit repaired may not want a whole-home install. More clicks from the wrong task will not solve your sales gap.

Give a new viewer a reason to care

A person on Facebook or Instagram may not be shopping right then. A clear photo, real job story or useful answer can help them understand your work.

Do not assume that makes the lead poor. Do not assume it makes them ready either. Your first call should check their need, location and next step.

Meta also reaches people with different levels of prior interest. Google offers more than search ads. Avoid treating a whole platform as one single buyer type.

Write a role for each test

Use this brief before picking a channel. You may start with one if staff time or budget is tight.

Make the comparison fair before choosing

Use the same job-fit rule for both groups. Give each enough time to reach the step you compare. Keep ad spend and full sales costs clearly labeled.

If one group is newer, its open quotes may not have had the same chance to close. A platform total cannot fix that age gap.

Compare the work after the click

Review each group through reached leads, held visits and jobs. Use the same cost rules and enough time for quotes to mature. Keep the original source on the record.

One channel may make more forms while another brings more held visits. Check the whole path before choosing a winner. Small counts can swing quickly.

Ask the team what buyers needed help with. Use that to improve the message and first call. The aim is useful, profitable work, not loyalty to one ad platform.
