Keep the photo and approval together

Ask before you use a generator job photo

Use a small approval record before sharing a generator job photo. Keep the allowed use, image file and public details together.

Before you use a generator job photo, check the exact image. Who may approve its use? Where may it appear? Keep those answers with the final file and caption.

A yes for one website photo does not cover every ad or clip. Follow your firm’s process to clear each planned use.

    On this page

Show the image you want to use

Pick the exact photo, not a whole folder. Explain where you want it to appear. A website page and a paid ad are not the same use.

Ask the person who took the photo about use rights too. A homeowner’s reply does not tell you who owns the image. If either point is unclear, hold the photo.

    Keep a small use record

This is a practical file check, not a legal form. Use your own approved process for the permissions your firm needs.

    • Photo file name and job reference.
    • Who took the photo.
    • Who approved the planned use and when.
    • The exact places it may be shown.
    • Any limit on names, place or crop.
    • Where the written reply is saved.

    Look beyond the main subject

Zoom in before you share. Check house numbers, car plates, faces and papers in the frame. A box label may show more than you first noticed.

Choose a different photo if it is easier to keep private details out. If you crop or blur, check the final file. Do not assume the edited version is the one you uploaded.

Google’s profile rules also restrict private customer details. Treat the public caption with the same care as the image.

    Save the published use

Once a use is approved and posted, save its page link. Keep a copy of the final image and caption beside the approval.

If the allowed use changes, the record shows which pages need a check. Do not treat permission for one job photo as permission for every future photo.

What if the planned use changes?

Pause the new use and check the record. A website gallery and a paid ad are different uses. Do not stretch a narrow answer into a broad one.

Check a changed file or caption against the approval. Save that version with the record. This helps the next person choose the right file.
