Generator vendor referral: make the next handoff clear
Introduce a vendor with a clear need, permission to share and one next-step owner. Keep private job details out.
A useful generator vendor introduction names the need, the people who agreed to speak and the next action. Share only the contact details and files cleared for that step.
An introduction is not an order, a fit approval or permission to add someone to a sales list. Keep each outcome separate.

Check that an introduction fits
Start with the need. Does the job team need a quote or a product file? Do they just need the right person to ask? Name that task.
Check whether the vendor handles that request. Do not promise stock, price or fit for them. Those answers belong to the vendor and the job team.
If you work with the vendor, say so where it matters. Do not imply the maker backs them unless a current source says so.
Agree what may be shared
Ask each side who should get the note. Check what may go in it. Use a job ID and broad area if that is enough.
Leave out private phone numbers, payment records and site files. Share them only if needed and cleared for this use. A warm handoff does not need every detail.
Name the next owner
Choose who will send the brief, who will reply and who tracks the result. Do not leave both people waiting for the other to act.
Keep the promise modest. “Can discuss a quote” is different from “will deliver by Friday.” Only pass on dates and terms both sides have checked.
- Need and job reference.
- Who may get the note and its files.
- Files still to be sent.
- Next action and owner.
- Date to check for a reply.
Record the reply, not just the send
Choose a small set of handoff states: ready to send, sent, reply received, next step agreed or not a fit. Keep the actual date and source for each.
No reply is still no reply. It is not a refused quote, a lost sale or a completed handoff.
Close the loop without pressure
If there is no reply, check the agreed next step once through the right channel. Do not add either person to a sales list just because you put them in touch.
Record whether the handoff helped. A useful answer may be that the item is not a fit. That is better than a vague handoff that leads to a bad order.
